Hi, my name is Gabe, I'm the Owner and Lead Technician at Teknyka Tech Support. I have over 12 years of experience fixing computers and I enjoy working on them every day. My credentials include two Associates Degrees in Technology and Network Administration and I graduated from the Cisco Networking Academy. I am also CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Security+ Certified.

I work with a group of like-minded technology enthusiasts who also enjoy helping their customers meet their technology needs. These part time independent contractors have various skills and certifications that cover the whole spectrum of technology, from software to hardware, and from networking to web design. With our combined skills we are able to tackle any projects that you may have.

We are a local company with a proven track record

We're a relatively small, local company, so making sure our clients are happy is very important to us. That means we go above and beyond to make sure your computer problems aren't just fixed, but that they don't come back.

We hear a lot of horror stories from our customers about bad repair services they've experienced. Many people have lost trust in technicians and are reluctant to call someone until things get really bad. When they finally find us, they're so happy!

The fact is that there are many tech support companies out there and they all like to say that they're the best. Unfortunately many of them hire underpaid, unskilled, uncaring “geeks” who don't know very much about computers. Not only do we provide much better service, but charge much less. On average you'll be charged $200 for service at a big computer shop, but we provide better service for about half the cost! The reason I say our service is better is because we don't just fix the problem, we'll make sure you're computer is up to date with virus protection, software updates, security patches, and we'll even provide recommendations on how to improve your computing experience. You just won't find this kind of service at big computer shops!

Here are two main reasons it's a bad idea to take your computer to a big computer shop or retail store:

  • Focus is on sales, not service: Retail store technicians are trained to sell, sell, sell regardless if you actually need the product or service. Once they sold you on something they forget about you. If you're lucky, you got your problem fixed (at an outrageous price) and you may have also paid for an "upgrade" that you didn't even need.
  • High turnover rates: It takes a long time for a technician to hone their technical skills and there aren't many experienced technicians working at big retail stores. Because technical skills are not a great priority many technicians soon leave and go elsewhere to expand their skills.

How do I know all this? I worked at Fry's Electronics for several years and experienced it first-hand. Now don't get me wrong, Fry's is a great place to shop and I go there all the time. Just don't expect to get great computer support there! Or at Best Buy (Geek Squad), or any other big computer shop. You're much better off finding a small local computer repair shop that will treat you with respect and guarantee their work.

Teknyka Code of Ethics

  • Be true to the estimated cost of repairs and immediately let the client know if the estimates change
  • Be honest and forthcoming about the clients problems, even if they are unfavorable to the client or they render the repair service unnecessary
  • Safeguard the clients personal files and always perform a backup prior to engaging in actions that may result in the loss of data
  • Respect the clients personal data, do not view files or documents for any reason other than what is necessary to perform repairs. Violating your right to privacy is absolutely not acceptable under any circumstances, for any reason.
  • Install only properly licensed software, do not engage in services that are in violation of any laws

Behind the Name: Teknyka

When I was growing up my father was a great source of inspiration and support for me. I named my company Teknyka because I heard my father use that word when he purchased the first computer we ever owned. Teknyka (sounds like "technical" without the L), which is short for "technology" in Russian, has been a great influence on my life ever since.

I was around 8 years old at the time that computers started to become popular and I thought this new technology was absolutely amazing. I became fascinated with computers and started learning everything I could possibly learn about them. My father encouraged me in the process and he had the foresight that computers would soon become very prevalent in our lives. He continued to encourage my interest in them and bought me my own computer in 1994 — a Packard Bell 486DX2 running Windows 3.11 with a 66Mhz processor, 4MB of RAM and a 500MB Hard Drive — that's equivalent to about 1/100th of the processing power of computers today!

I also had a wonderful teacher who taught computers and typing in grade school. He taught me that there is an infinite amount of information to learn and that there is always help if you need it. Computers became my hobby and my passion and that is why I continue to learn about, work on, and fix computers to this day.

I've worked in many technological fields over the past 12 years. In 1998 I was a programmer for a gaming company. In 2000 I worked at Fry's Electronics as a technician. In 2005 I went to college and earned two Associates Degrees in Information Technology and Network Administration. And since 2005 I've been working for a major national bank as a network support technician.

In 2008 I established Teknyka Tech Support and I've been supporting many happy clients ever since. I get a lot of joy and inspiration by helping others discover their possibilities with the use of the their computers.

It's been amazing to see all the technological advancements over the past couple of decades and I expect many more exciting developments to come. There are so many ways to use computers: run a business, automate tedious tasks, sell products on the internet, edit videos, play games, and much more. I am here to help you learn about all these possibilities and anything else that your mind can possibly come up with.
