ALERT – Some Lenovo’s Came Pre-Loaded With Malware!
If you purchased a Lenovo computer in the past six months (September 2014-February 2015) it may have come with malware installed on it. The name of the malware is Superfish and in short it would bring up unwanted ads and may compromise your computer’s security. Lenovo has recently released a Security Advisory about this issue.
If you have a Lenovo model that starts with E, G, S, U, Y, Z or is a Flex, Miix or Yoga model you should check to see if you have Superfish and have it properly removed.
If you did purchase a Lenovo computer based on our recommendation we will remove Superfish free of charge. And if you’d like to remove the software yourself, you can follow Superfish removal instructions here.
Luckily, none of the business class computers that we sold from our shop are affected by this. ThinkPad, ThinkCentre, Lenovo Desktop, ThinkStation, ThinkServer and System x products were not impacted. We still do support and recommend Lenovo computers, and we commend them on recognizing the problem and quickly releasing a fix for it.
