Windows Start Button Coming Back
It looks like Microsoft changed their mind and will not force Windows 8 users accept the new interface. The follow-up to Windows 8 (code named “Blue” to be released as Windows 8.1 later this year) will have an option to boot to a desktop and have a traditional Start button again. Unfortunately the Start Menu will still show up as tiles in the new Windows 8 fashion.
After Windows 8 was released last October many consumers and especially business customers were very disappointed in the user interface change. Windows XP is about to go out of support (4/8/2014) but there are still a lot of businesses that use XP. They are afraid of upgrading to Windows 8 because the user interface requires a lot of retraining. Many tech experts argue that Microsoft should have offered these options in the first place, the way it had previously given users the option to change their interface to a “Classic” style. Others argue that you get used to Windows 8… kind of like you get used to a terminal illness.
